Global Communication has never been more open... In the past decade we have experienced a worldwide internet revolution that has widened our horizons more than ever before. At the touch of a button you can meet and speak to people on the other side of the planet via the multitude of ever-expanding social networks. DJs have to take advantage of this great leap forward and broadcast to the wide world. It's a weird phenomenon, recording a little DJ Mix, clicking a few buttons and then getting feedback from an audience that you don't see in reality, that usually comes from an completely different civilization and way of life. It's a real eyeopener but one that I enjoy. Help distribute this mix to your friends, wherever you may be listening. The mix represents the current sounds of house music as heard by my ears, here in a tiny Welsh village called Caldicot.

Well - for want of a better title - I though there was some spooky theme going on in the track titles for this deep and funky mix which explores some of the finer elements of 2011 deep house, building to a crescendo with a classic remake of Superchumbo's Revolution, concluding with one of the finer tracks from Guy J's new 1000 words album. Wez G - True Romance

The songs included on this mix seemed to me to have a lovey dovey theme and feel so hence the title 'True Romance'. Deep and funky, it flows nicely, with stand out tracks from Glimpse and Vincenzo and obviously the opening classic from A Man Called Adam. I am passionate about vinyl. It is the ideal DJ format. It is the media by which DJing first came to life. I made vows to always stick by it. Swore an oath to Enzo @ http://plastic-music.co.uk where I buy my vinyl never to 'go digital' - but as in Terminator, the dance music world has witnessed the rise of the machine and we live in a digital age... I started spinning the odd tune with Traktor to incorporate some stuff in my sets which was unreleased on black plastic. I then decided to give Traktor a proper whirl and invested in some MIDI equipment. It is like learning to DJ all over again. People say it's cheating and yes, software will auto synch beats for you - but beatmatching is not something I have a real problem with anyway. The fundamentals of DJing remain the same: Good selection of music, flow of tunes, hitting the right mixpoints - it's still all about timing and digital or vinyl that needs to be precise, beats matching or not... Anyway - for the past year or so I've been beatporting and traktoring... So here are the sets. I'm not dead to vinyl and still pick up the odd bit... I think live vinyl performances are better for the mind, body and spirit... I am also in the longwinded and tiresome process of converting a much cherished record collection to digital wav.

A solar flare is a sudden brightening observed over the Sun surface, which is interpreted as a release of a massive amount of energy. Here in the UK we are experiencing a great deal of sunshine and warmth which is unusual for this time of year. Whereas others are nipping off to the beach, I decided to stay indoors and record a nice little DJ Mix, full of energy, ideal to get people moving after they've munched all their barbecue burgers.

A few years ago I went Island hopping in the South Pacific... It's great fun, a perfect paradise... This soundtrack is ideal for lazing away on a yacht, checking into the beaches, diving in coral reefs and catching a bit of surf... OK - It is winter, but in the South Pacific it's always hot and Snow White Winter Chill (my previous chillout mix) was received well so I thought it about time to treat you to some more mellow vibes... There are sounds across the board with Bristol represented by Portishead, Thievery Corporation and Röyksopp among the big guns, and a Chris Rea bootie chucked in also... It hops from a calm 90bpm up to a full flow 132 bpm, towards the end. It's a perfect soundtrack to the start of your weekend as you prepare to go out somewhere nice. Wez G - Spaceman Funk

Often under the influence of locally produced drugs such as Mescaline or Ayahuasca or Iboga, in ecstatic trances, the shaman would bring back from the spiritual world key knowledge that would help his fellow tribesmen. ‘… one night we suddenly went mad together again; we went to see Slim Gaillard in a little Frisco nightclub. Slim Gaillard is a tall, thin Negro with big sad eyes who’s always saying ‘Right-orooni’ and ‘How ’bout a little bourbon-arooni.’ In Frisco great eager crowds of young semi-intellectuals sat at his feet and listened to him on the piano, guitar and bongo drums. When he gets warmed up he takes off his undershirt and really goes. He does and says anything that comes into his head. He’ll sing ‘Cement Mixer, Put-ti Put-ti’ and suddenly slow down the beat and brood over his bongos with fingertips barely tapping the skin as everybody leans forward breathlessly to hear; you think he’ll do this for a minute or so, but he goes right on, for as long as an hour, making an imperceptible little noise with the tips of his fingernails, smaller and smaller all the time till you can’t hear it any more and sounds of traffic come in the open door. Then he slowly gets up and takes the mike and says, very slowly, ‘Great-orooni … fine-ovauti … hello-orooni … bourbon-orooni … all-orooni …how are the boys in the front row making out with their girls-orooni … orooni … vauti … oroonirooni …”
